Google Message Continuity
Google Message Continuity provides a disaster recovery solution for Microsoft's Exchange based on Gmail and Postini services.
Message Continuity enables businesses to use Gmail as a backup mail server during planned and unplanned outages. Message Continuity delivers email messages to both your primary mail server and to Gmail, which ensures that your organisation never loses access to its email.
Using the Continuity Sync Server, changes made by users are synchronized between the primary mail server and Gmail. Postini filters inbound messages for spam, viruses, and other malicious content, and delivers mail to both Exchange and Gmail accounts using Postini Dual Delivery.
During an outage, users can then log in to Gmail to access their messages. At the end of the outage, all changes made by Gmail users are synchronized with the primary mail server. This includes messages sent from Gmail to other users, new messages received by users during the downtime, messages marked as read or starred, and changes to folders and labels.
