Google and their enterprise partner, Grove Group recently co-hosted two events in South Africa to showcase the benefits of investing in Software-as-a-Services (SaaS) and Google enterprise solutions in a growing African market. Intended for those who were new to SaaS the Google team kicked off the Conference Tour on the 18th of August 2009 at the Palazzo Monte Casino Hotel in Johannesburg and then travelled to the Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town on the 20th of August. The two events were organised to facilitate interest around SaaS, but also to deep dive into the specifics of Google Enterprise Solutions. The Google Enterprise Solutions Preview incorporated presentations and discussions on the following corporate services: * Google Apps * Google Postini Services * Google Enterprise Search Appliances * Google Earth and Maps The Google Enterprise Solutions Preview Conference focused on the key differences between the traditional legacy model and the "cloud computing" model used for business applications. Google touched on recent Gartner reports that foresees a growing SaaS market, with more companies switching to "cloud-based" services such as Google Apps. Google and Grove discussed the cost savings that can be achieved by investing in Google Enterprise Solutions and how these Google solutions can increase employee collaboration and productivity. Joss Ings-Chambers, Grove Sales Director, said, "Each audience was hugely excited by the information available and understanding the concept of Cloud -Computing. Some of the most engaging information were the several case studies covering the benefits and the savings of Google Apps, including a 300 user company in Africa which made savings of over $200,000 by deploying Google Apps as opposed to migrating from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007. No business can ignore savings like that in this climate." The event was a success on all fronts – attendees included some of South Africa’s biggest companies, all of whom have identified with the benefits of Google’s enterprise business applications. Google’s presence was well presented thanks to the involvement of Peter Lorant, Head of Channels (Europe Middle East & Africa) and Matthew Landeg, Head of Sales (Region 4) at the event. One-to-one meetings were held with key opportunities to provide insight into specific customer requirements for the Google services on display. The rapid adoption of Google Enterprise Solutions across Europe, Middles East and Africa (EMEA) has created cause for Google to strengthen their relationships with experienced partners operating in these regions.
