What is Cloud Computing?
´The Cloud´ is an off-site web-based storage house where documents, emails, music, photos and social networks are kept. What makes this type of ´storage´ so popular is that the information kept there is not physically held on computers, laptops, phones or tablets - but rather it´s held in multiple data centres (all over the globe) and is accessible by you, through the Internet. That means the information is always available, centrally located and not bound by any single device.
We've explained how Cloud Computing works here through an every day example, but below is a great video that compares the ‘old’ way, with one powered by Cloud Computing. It shows how data centers within companies are costly, time consuming to manage and always causing problems. It explains how Cloud Computing allows you to just plug in, with none of the pain. It shows you how Cloud Computing costs less, is more scalable, more secure and more reliable.
